Which Phone?

This all depends on what carrier we end up with.

There really are three choices for me. One is offered on both Verizon and Sprint.

Verizon : Touch Pro 2, Droid.
Sprint : Touch Pro 2, Moment.

The Touch Pro 2 is a Windows Mobile phone, while the others are Android phones.

Touch Pro 2 looks great, but it's processor is a bit dated...this time next year it will be completely outclassed.

I'm LOVING the looks of the Droid. If we stay with Verizon....I think I'm gettin that puppy.

The real decision is if we stay with Sprint. I have the TP2 or the Moment....the problem with the Moment is that it's screen is only 280 x 350 resolution....the TP2 is 480 x 800. This makes surfing the web waaaaay better because you can see more of the page in the screen.

Another problem is that both the sprint phones are mail order only....I'll have to get one of each and send one back...

I guess Jan get's the Moment and I'll get the TP2.....for now.

Which wireless carrier? Stick with Big Red OR go Yellow

We are in a cost cutting mode right now at our house and Sprint has a VERY ATTRACTIVE OFFER right now. They have a family share plan where 2 phones share
  • unlimited Cell phone calls
  • 1500 minutes to land lines
  • All we can eat texting
  • All we can eat data
  • Sprint TV Standard
All this....for $130/month. I get a discount so my cost will be $104.

Right now my wife and I share
  • 1500 minutes to non Verizon
  • All we can eat texting
  • I get unlimited data
We pay $145/month for this. The difference is only $40 right? NO....because my wife does NOT have any data. She says she'd never use that stuff....but she's always complaining about her friends phones and how cool they are....she's constantly bitching about her current phone.

I went so far as to purchase a Sprint phone...with every intention of taking it back. I had to check the coverage at our house. Glad I did. There's one of those big electrical boxes in our front yard. With the Sprint phone, the call is dropped right when you pull into the driveway. EVERY TIME.

Deal's done...stay with Verizon right? NOT SO FAST MY FRIEND.
Sprint has Airave...a little device you keep in your home. Your phone connects to it and the call is routed thru your high speed internet. Unlimited calls....to cell phones or land lines...are only $10/month. The question is....will it connect fast enough to stop the dropped call....

Time will tell. I ordered one of these units for a test. In all...this little experiment will cost me a total of about $75. But it will be very much worth it if I can save almost $100 / month.
